Episode Notes

The Healing Dementia Summit 2026 begins November 3. For listeners investigating brain health for themselves or someone they love, the online program brings together conversations about nutrition, lifestyle, the gut microbiome, and other factors in cognitive health.

Nutrition researcher John E. Lewis, Ph.D. is scheduled for November 7. His interview is titled, “Polysaccharides: The Overlooked Nutrient That Could Change Dementia Care Forever.” The discussion provides an opportunity to investigate the research behind these nutrients and the questions it raises.

Hosted by Sharon Goldberg, MD, the summit presents ten days of interviews through November 12, followed by a November 13 bonus program featuring selections from its archives. Each day’s interviews are free for 24 hours. Registration supplies access instructions by email. An optional paid VIP pass provides extended access. Listeners interested in the free sessions should check the daily access emails rather than assume every interview remains available indefinitely.

The wider speaker program includes David Perlmutter, MD, Dale Bredesen, MD, Heather Sandison, ND, and Jill Carnahan, MD. Nutrition author Patrick Holford is listed on the same day’s schedule as Lewis.

What is Lewis bringing to the nutrition discussion? His research background includes a 2021 narrative review in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Research. That review examined 96 human-study articles across 21 nutrient and phytonutrient categories, including aloe polysaccharides. Its authors reported that findings varied across populations and health conditions. The details of individual studies therefore matter when interpreting what a finding means.

For a listener comparing brain supplements, one useful question is whether a cited study actually examined the ingredient or combination being discussed. Lewis’s seven-question guide to evaluating brain supplements suggests checking what participants took, how much they took, how long they were followed, and what researchers measured. Research on one ingredient answers a different question from research on a finished combination.

Another useful question is how to evaluate the company offering a supplement. Lewis’s separate guide to choosing a supplement brand discusses laboratory testing, testimonials, formulation disclosure, and marketing claims. A claim that a product was tested is a starting point for investigation. Readers can ask who performed the analysis and what the analysis covered.

Lewis founded Dr Lewis Nutrition, whose flagship product is Daily Brain Care. His consumer resources connect that research background with practical standards for evaluating supplements, including products offered by his own company. The two guides offer complementary paths: investigate the research behind the formula, then investigate the business responsible for it.

The November 7 session gives listeners a timely reason to explore those questions. The summit website has registration, the full speaker list and schedule, and additional information. The accompanying links include the summit registration page and Lewis’s two consumer guides.
