Episode Notes

With summer rapidly approaching, Balance Adventure Camp is again offering its popular weekly summer programs for children aged 6-11. Each day begins at 8.00 a.m. and finishes at 4.00 p.m., and the weekly camps will run from June 2 through August 1. Reserve your child’s spot early to avoid disappointment.

Balance Adventure Camp adopts a signature L.E.A.F. method to outdoor education, referring to Leadership, Exploration, Adventure, and Friendship. The programs include a wide variety of outdoor experiences and creative activities, including hiking, fishing, biking, outdoor survival, wildlife tracking, fire building, navigation, arts and crafts, journaling, and more.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) explains why outdoor play is an important part of your child’s development. It highlights social interaction skills, physical and mental health, confidence, and awareness of science as some of the key benefits.

Unlike similar programs, Balance Adventure Camp focuses on being in the great outdoors, rather than on indoor activities. The central goal is to provide your kids with high-quality time away from screens, teaching them that there is a world to be discovered beyond their devices.

“Our summer education program is designed to get kids outside, unplugged from their devices and plugged into Mother Nature,” a company representative explained. “Our daily adventures begin and end in nature, preparing your child for a life of joy in the great outdoors. Our teachers are experienced in outdoor education, childcare, and team building, and are certified in CPR & first aid.”

As mentioned, each day begins at 8.00 a.m. at one of two pick-up points, located in Castle Rock and Highlands Range, from where children are then taken to their day’s adventures. Activities usually conclude at 3.00 p.m., with children being returned to the pick-up point by 4.00 p.m.

“Our mission is to provide children with transformative outdoor experiences that foster resilience, curiosity, and a deep connection to the natural world,” the team continued. “As a family-owned and operated camp, we treat each child as if they were our own. Our local roots give us intimate knowledge of the natural areas we explore, allowing us to provide authentic experiences while maintaining the highest safety standards.”
