Rising energy costs are a major concern these days. According to EnergySage, an online marketplace for clean energy products, the average monthly electricity cost in New Jersey is $239 - 17% higher than the national average.
As Elevated Remodeling's report explains, this is why the New Jersey Window Replacement Program provides funding for Energy Star-certified windows, including double-pane, Low-E glass, and insulated frames, which reduce heat loss in winter and keep your home cooler in summer for improved energy efficiency and comfort year-round.
To qualify, you have to meet certain income requirements based on federal guidelines, ranging from about $38,000 to $60,000 for single-person households and about $78,000 to $125,000 for a family of four. The program is available to low- to moderate-income households in New Jersey, prioritizing homeowners, but you can still apply if you're a renter, but you'll need your landlord's consent.
If you'd like to apply, Elevated Remodeling recommends you first research the program. Then you'll need to gather proof of income, residency, and homeownership, and complete the application form. Approval can take several weeks, and if your application is approved, you’ll receive instructions and a subsidy to help cover the cost of your replacement windows.
The report also discusses other grants and rebates, like the New Jersey Comfort Partners Program and the Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) Home Weatherization Program, which provide financial support for energy-efficient home upgrades.
