Episode Notes

LOS ANGELES, CA — No Matter What Recovery Detox (NMWRD), an inpatient substance abuse detox and residential treatment center serving the LGBTQ+ community, has named Robert Young, a Los Angeles-based clinician with more than 20 years of experience, as its new Clinical Director. The announcement was made by Anthony Arranaga-Grayson and his husband Paulo Anthony-Grayson, co-founders of the program.

“Returning to a detox and residential clinical setting feels like a homecoming for me, especially since I will be once again focusing my care on clients struggling with the oftentimes disastrous intersection of crystal meth misuse and sex,” said Robert. “I’m excited for this next chapter in my professional journey, and, most importantly, for the critical work to help individuals in the LGBTQ+ community recover their lives.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Robert to the team,” said Anthony. “His depth of experience especially as it relates to working with clients struggling with crystal meth use, as well as his compassionate approach, will enhance our inpatient program and help individuals and families navigate recovery, healing, and personal transformation.”

Paulo added, “Robert’s extensive work with adults, adolescents, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and veterans reflects our mission of inclusivity and empathy. His trauma-informed and affirming style will be invaluable in helping clients rebuild their lives with strength and purpose.”

In addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Young is a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist—an expertise especially relevant to clients struggling with chemsex and sexualized drug use. In his new role, he will provide specialized clinical guidance that bridges the transition from detox to ongoing outpatient care.

Recognized for its affirming and inclusive environment, No Matter What Recovery (NMWR) programs support clients from diverse backgrounds who have faced discrimination, isolation, and rejection—factors that often contribute to mental health and substance use challenges. Studies show that LGBTQ+ adults are more than twice as likely as their heterosexual peers to use illicit drugs and nearly twice as likely to experience a substance use disorder.

To meet these needs, NMWR offers a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The program is a national leader in the field of chemsex (sexualized drug use) education and treatment. Additionally, clients also engage in specialized group sessions focused on trauma, relapse prevention, chemsex awareness, communication skills, and goal-setting.

Currently, No Matter What Recovery operates five sober living homes in Los Angeles, serving up to 40 clients at a time, and next year will expand it’s current detox and residential operations with an additional 6-beds.
