Guarant has announced a strategic training collaboration with the UK-based Chartered Insurance Institute (C.I.I.) to launch the 'Guarant Academy.' This institutional initiative is designed to elevate underwriting standards and technical proficiency across the global surety and trade finance sectors.
The collaboration integrates the CI.I.'s globally recognized educational frameworks into Guarant’s core operations and outreach initiatives, addressing the increasing complexity of the guarantees market, where products such as Advance Payment Bonds, Performance Bonds, and Retention Bonds require rigorous technical oversight and precise risk evaluation. This collaboration in education will strengthen Guarant's internal methodologies for assessing client financial health and project viability. By integrating the CI.I.'s rigorous educational frameworks, the company intends to ensure its underwriting team is equipped to handle systematic evaluations of surety and trade credit risks.
Through the "Guarant Academy" initiative, the firm will also extend this technical support to its network of brokers and partners. This external program provides access to specialized e-learning licenses and vouchers, facilitating a deeper understanding of trade finance and strengthening communication across the reinsurance value chain. The academy seeks to bridge the gap in technical knowledge so that all stakeholders can effectively understand and apply policy wording, clause analysis, and collateral management.
The curriculum for the upcoming workshop includes an extensive review of insurance and reinsurance principles, specifically focusing on the application of trade finance within corporate services. Participants will examine the methods and forms of reinsurance, including the calculation of facultative requirements and the mechanics of proportional and non-proportional treaties. This structured approach aims to mitigate risks associated with under-reinsurance and improve the overall management of aggregate exposure.
Paul Buckendahl, Guarant's Business Development Manager, said that as they expand their focus on guarantees and bonds, technical expertise is their highest priority. By collaborating with C.I.I., they aim to ensure their team and partners utilize the most rigorous frameworks for assessing trade credit risks and managing complex claims processes.
A leading reinsurance company, Guarant provides capacity across multiple lines, including Property, Casualty, Marine, Aviation, and Engineering. They delivered tailored risk transfer solutions through analytical evaluation, data-driven underwriting discipline, and responsive, relationship-driven support.
